Who we are

Dusk is made by CRFTD Studios Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (number 17090422), Unit 17 Orbital 25 Business Park, Dwight Road, Watford WD18 9DA, United Kingdom. We are the controller of the personal data described here. You can reach us at [email protected].

The Dusk app

Your email

Dusk connects directly from your Mac to Google (for Gmail and Google Workspace) and to Apple (for iCloud Mail). Your messages, attachments, contacts and drafts are downloaded to your Mac and stored there, inside Dusk's own protected folder. There is no Dusk server in between, and we have no way to read your email.

The passwords and sign-in tokens Dusk uses to reach your accounts are kept in your Mac's Keychain.

The AI

Sorting, summaries and suggested replies use Apple's on-device model, which is built into macOS. It runs entirely on your Mac. Nothing you read or write is sent to us, to Apple or to any other company to produce them, and your email is never used to train any model.

No tracking

• Dusk has no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind.
• Dusk blocks images and other content that emails try to load from the internet, so senders can't tell when you've opened their message.
• Your licence is checked on your Mac. Dusk doesn't contact us to check it.

Updates

Dusk checks our website for new versions. Like any web request, this shares your IP address and the version of Dusk you're running with our website host. We use it only to offer you the update.

Removing your data

Remove an account in Dusk's settings and the mail Dusk stored for it is deleted from your Mac. The mail itself stays with Google or Apple as normal. You can also withdraw Dusk's access to your Google account at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.

Google user data

When you add a Google account, Dusk asks for permission to read, send and organise your Gmail (the gmail.modify scope) and to see your email address. Dusk uses this only to show your mail, sort and summarise it on your Mac, and carry out what you ask, such as archiving, labelling, starring, deleting and sending.

• Data from Google stays on your Mac. It is not sent to us or to anyone else.
• It is never used for advertising, never sold, and never used to train AI models.
• No person reads it. We have no access to it.

Dusk's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Buying Dusk

Payments are handled by Stripe. Stripe collects your card details; we never see or store them. From your purchase we receive your name, email address, country and what you paid.

We use these to send your licence key and download link, to answer you if you contact us, and to keep the records that tax law requires. We send these emails through an email delivery service that handles them for us and for no other purpose. We keep purchase records for six years, as UK tax law requires.

We rely on our contract with you, and on our legal obligations for tax records.

This website

• This site has no analytics and sets no cookies.
• If you pick a currency, your choice is saved in your browser so the site remembers it. It never leaves your browser.
• The site loads fonts from Google Fonts and a scrolling script from jsDelivr. Those services receive your IP address when your browser fetches the files.
• Our website host keeps standard server logs, such as IP addresses, for security.

Your rights

Under UK and EU data protection law you can ask us for a copy of the data we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. Email [email protected] and we'll reply within a month. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change matters to how your data is used, we'll email customers before it takes effect.
